The proposals for Broughton House in Broughton Road include an in-ground swimming pool and small pool house, as well as a major overhaul of the gardens.
The scheme also includes repairing and partly rebuilding the property’s Suffolk-white brick boundary wall, widening the entrance gateway and replacing a large area of tarmac with a landscaped garden and permeable driveway.
Four protected trees are proposed for removal, with the application stating their roots are contributing to movement and instability in the wall.

At least two replacement trees are proposed for each tree removed.
The application says part of the wall has become seriously unstable following years of root damage and was further affected when a pier was struck by a delivery vehicle in 2025.

The plans would also introduce lawns, hedges, new planting, natural stone paths and a motorised entrance gate, with applicants arguing the changes would improve the appearance of the Park Conservation Area.
