A man has died after a dirt-bike crash on a bike trail in Hawke’s Bay.

The off-road crash was about 8.55am on Sunday near State Highway 51, Clive, between Napier and Hastings.

“Emergency services were called to the bike trail near the river just south of the Waitangi Bridge,” a
police statement read.

“A man was located in a critical condition and was transported to hospital, where he died several hours later.

“The Police Serious Crash Unit was advised, and police are continuing to investigate what happened.”
