ROCHESTER — Mayo Clinic has hired Arun Kumar Bhaskara-Baba as its new chief information officer, filling a position vacated in late 2024.
A spokesperson for Mayo Clinic confirmed that Bhaskara-Baba joined the institution in May, as first reported by Becker’s Hospital Review.
Before joining Mayo Clinic, Bhaskara-Baba was the global chief digital and information officer for Honeywell’s Aerospace Technologies Division from 2022 to 2025, according to his LinkedIn profile. Prior to that, Bhaskara-Baba spent 15 years with Johnson & Johnson; his last role there was as head of global manufacturing information technology.
Bhaskara-Baba joins Mayo Clinic as it emphasizes building and using artificial intelligence tools. At
health system leaders shared that about 100 AI algorithms — from an ambient clinical note scribe to a tool that draws information out of non-Mayo patient records — were already in use.
In June, Mayo Clinic announced it is working with Microsoft to develop a healthcare-specific AI model.

“Too often, organizations chase the latest technology without asking the fundamental question: What customer problems are we actually solving?” he said. “AI and AI agents are not the objective. They are means to an end.”

Cris Ross served as Mayo Clinic’s CIO
for 12 years, from 2012 to 2024. During his tenure, Ross oversaw the health system’s transition to a new electronic health record system, Epic.
