On Thursday, August 20, 2026, Egypt’s Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, Hussein Issa, met with a high-level delegation from a leading Chinese aluminum group in New Alamein city.

The two sides discussed plans for the proposed $2 billion industrial development, which is anticipated to generate more than 3,000 local jobs.

The discussion highlighted the growing economic cooperation and the strong, long-term bilateral relations that have developed between Egypt and China over recent years.

Egypt’s government pledges support and green energy goals

During the negotiations, Deputy Prime Minister Issa made it clear that attracting foreign businesses remains a top priority to help drive comprehensive and sustainable economic growth in Egypt.

He explained that the Egyptian government is committed to “removing obstacles facing investors and providing incentives and facilities to enhance the competitiveness of Egypt’s investment climate”.

Furthermore, Issa emphasized that any new partnership must look to the future.

He noted the importance of ensuring that the massive aluminum project “contributes to the transfer of expertise and advanced technologies and relies on clean energy sources” in order to align with global shifts toward green industry.

China’s delegation highlights regional advantages

The visiting Chinese delegation expressed a strong interest in growing their group’s business footprint in Egypt, citing the nation’s highly strategic geographical location that connects key global markets.

They also praised the significant advancements made to Egypt’s infrastructure in recent years.

Ultimately, they believe this joint effort will help secure “Egypt’s position as a leading regional manufacturing and export hub”.
