There were dramatic scenes at Queensland Raceway as Grove Racing’s Matt Payne suffered an engine-related issue that took him out of contention.

Payne entered the final race of the Ipswich Super440 with a 110-point lead but wound up at a 30-point deficit to Sprint Cup winner Feeney, who won the third race.

Other notable changes to the standings between the second and third race included Brodie Kostecki (Dick Johnson Racing) climbing to third on the ladder over Cameron Waters (Tickford Racing).

The fight for the final position inside the top 10 continues to seesaw between James Golding (Blanchard Racing Team) and Jack Le Brocq (Matt Stone Racing).

As it stands, Golding holds 10th. His case to make the Finals Series was helped by a fifth place finish in the Ipswich Super440 closer, which built a 55-point gap over Le Brocq.

The championship structure means Golding is no guarantee of making the Finals Series. If any driver outside of the top 10 wins the Ryco Enduro Cup, they will automatically book their Finals Series berth.

Anton De Pasquale is the sole Chevrolet in the top 10, occupying sixth.

Despite a breakthrough weekend for Will Brown that saw him finish third in Race 1, win Race 2, and finish third in Race 3, he remained seventh in the standings. He did, however, draw a 585-point deficit down to a 471-point deficit.

The top 10 drivers to advance to the Final Series will be decided after the Bathurst 1000 on October 11.
