Asked what advice she could give to those vying for their own shot in the industry, Davis replied: “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do or be anything that you want to do or be.
“We all grow up just with lies from the world telling us that we all have limitations, and none of us do.
“Our only limitations are the things that we think are limiting us. You can do anything and be anybody, and don’t apologise for it.”
Davis revealed her diagnosis in a candid Instagram post on August 11, explaining she had kept the news private for 18 months after doctors discovered a “really tiny” lump – that she described as more like a “hard spot” – in early 2025.
With the cancer found to have metastasised to her bones (specifically her spine, right hip and ribs), Davis was told it was too late for chemotherapy and the disease was being treated as “incurable”.
While Davis said she was increasingly struggling to stay mobile and occasionally uses a wheelchair, she is now “at peace” with her situation and hopes to live out her remaining time in the “most fun way” possible.
Several famous friends and former colleagues – including Ricky Gervais, Sarah Paulson and Jenna Fischer – shared messages of support for Davis following the news.
