After Marvel Studios’ presentation at the 2026 D23 Expo, the comic book giant is moving with full force towards its first X-Men movie after 20th Century Fox’s 20 years with the mutants. While plot details remain unconfirmed, Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier will take on the same job for this movie, working with a script being revised by Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo. Additionally, following years of rumors about who would take over the acting roles in this franchise, Marvel has confirmed a few major names for the reboot.
After early trade reports revealed a couple of names, Marvel revealed the movie’s first seven leading cast members, including Samara Weaving as Emma Frost and Kit Connor as Cyclops. They will also be joined by Inde Navarette as Rogue, Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier, and Maya Boyd as Ororo Munroe/Storm; Sadie Sink is also set to reprise her role as Jean Grey after making her MCU debut in 2026’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film’s main antagonist will be the first live-action depiction of Mr. Sinister, played by Star Wars legend Adam Driver. Now, another new big name hopes to join the Marvel bandwagon in this movie as well.
Reacher Season 4 star Agnez Mo expressed interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s upcoming X-Men movie. Sharing a post with herself next to the X-Men heroine Psylocke, Mo wanted to put her name “out to the universe” in hopes of joining this film’s cast. As of writing, there are no reports indicating if or when Psylocke will join the MCU’s X-Men franchise, nor who may be in the running for the role. She most recently showed up in Season 2 of the animated X-Men ’97 series on Disney+. Olivia Munn previously played the live-action Psylocke in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse, and Psylocke had small roles in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine.

Mo has come into the spotlight in the last couple of weeks through her role as Lila Hoth in Reacher Season 4 alongside Alan Ritchson for Amazon Prime Video. While this marks her first major international and English-language appearance, she has a long history of work as an actress and singer in Indonesia. From here, she becomes the latest big name to campaign for an appearance in the MCU’s long-awaited X-Men reboot.
For now, Marvel Studios is in the early stages of development for this movie, with filming not expected to begin until late 2026 at the earliest, if not early 2027. However, there is a chance some of these characters may show up earlier in 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, transitioning from the legacy X-Men stars into a new crop of leading heroes.
