Prince Harry’s wife was understood to be in early-stage discussions over a possible role in a third series of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix hit The Gentlemen, Deadline reported. The show, starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, has yet to be renewed for a third season. But new reports claimed that Meghan’s casting has been dropped due to the backlash in the UK and some fans were not impressed.
A number of people criticised the duchess online and said the whole thing was a “PR stunt” to get publicity.
One user said on X: “Hollywood Reporter is also reporting that Meghan’s been dropped from consideration for ‘THE GENTLEMEN’, citing Tina Brown. As a reminder, neither Meghan nor Netflix denied that her casting was a possibility, meaning that both could have been using the news for a publicity stunt.
“But I find the idea rather hilarious that Netflix may have used the news to boost the profile of ‘THE GENTLEMEN’ before its September 3rd premiere, at the expense of Meghan.
“She definitely comes out of this all rather humiliated.”
Another user opined: “The whole thing is a joke. Meghan never said she was going to act in the UK. That’s crazy.”
