The All Blacks have suffered another injury blow with loose forward Anton Segner ruled out for the remainder of the tour of South Africa.

Segner was a late withdrawal from the first test squad in Johannesburg after suffering an ankle injury, assessed as acute inflammatory
arthritis.

He underwent keyhole surgery and will travel with the team to Cape Town but will not play. The All Blacks won’t bring in a replacement with midweek games coming to an end.

Segner was replaced in the first test squad by Simon Parker. Segner’s setback continues a string of injuries for the All Blacks in South Africa after hooker George Bell, centre Billy Proctor and wing Caleb Clarke were forced to return home.

Ethan de Groot and Josh Lord both suffered head knocks in the opening test win with Jamie Hannah and Ofa Tu’ungafasi flying to South Africa as replacements.
