While neither Prince Harry nor Meghan Markle have officially commented on the news of their move to the UK (though their spokesperson has gone on the record on a few occasions), today, Meghan took to Instagram stories to share a chicken joke.
As the song “Chicken Fried” by Zac Brown Band plays, she pans over what looks to be a tea towel patterned with chickens and the phrase “People who take care of chickens are literally chicken tenders.”

Prince Harry and Meghan’s chickens are reportedly set to stay in Montecito while they move to the UK; the rescue chickens, who live in a chicken coop at their home called “Archie’s Chick Inn” will reportedly be looked after by staff. Getting eggs, Meghan said in With Love, Meghan, is the best way to start her day. “What’s really cool is with whatever’s going on in life, to be able to do something like this—it’s just fun. It’s fun for kids and for adults. But, if a morning starts like this [snaps], you think about your day differently.” The Sussex family dogs Mia, a rescue beagle, and Pula, a black Labrador rescue, will make the trip across the pond.
This past weekend, a representative for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex described their move as short-term to the New York Times. “On the heels of a wonderful trip with family and friends this summer, Harry and Meghan have decided to spend an extended period in the U.K. this autumn,” the representative said in a statement. “They are excited to have their children spend more time in the country that’s such an important part of their family’s story.”
No further on-the-record details about their decision to move have been shared at this time.
