She described the Jolene hitmaker as “just the best example of how to be a great human”.
She said: “I’m sure we will all continue to discover more about her humble, important and generous altruistic charity work, which she would barely ever mention.
“Yet, Dolly had a talent for always finding something complimentary to say about everyone, even those for whom it might be challenging.”
Referencing her love for “four-inch heels”, Hannah described the late star as “supportive, hilarious, outrageously talented, creative and deeply empathetic”.
She said: “She outshines all the rhinestones on earth! I couldn’t have adored respected her more.”
Field took to Instagram to share her own tribute to her late castmate.
Sharing a photo of the Steel Magnolias cast, she wrote: “If there are truly angels on earth, then we have just lost one. Dolly Parton.
“There will never be another. I adored her with all my heart and will always cherish our time together. Forever. Rest in peace beautiful Dolly.”
In her own tribute, 92-year-old star MacLaine wrote: “God sent her to us, and she has returned home”.
Poignantly, Robert Harling’s movie adaptation of his own 1987 play follows a group of women and explores the bond they share, including how they deal with the death of one of their own.
Parton’s death was confirmed in a video message from her nephew Bryan Seaver, which he shared on her Instagram and X account.
He said: “My name is Bryan Seaver, son of Cassie Parton, and I’m representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean, Sister, Sis and Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next.
“This video announcement is something Dolly asked of me years ago, before I fully absorbed it as a future reality.
“As her head of security for more than two decades, a role my father Larry held before me, I have imagined the heaviness of this moment but haven’t truly felt it until now.
“It is an honour, an honour that is mixed with absolute pride and great sadness. But sadness lies with us, not with Dolly. Dolly has lived in the light and is in the arms of Jesus, surely met by [her husband] Carl [Dean], her parents and countless others who have watched her and longed to meet her in the heavens.”
It has since been revealed by her rep that the 9 to 5 singer died after “bravely facing a brief battle with cancer”.
