KALAMAZOO, Mich. — A vibrant new mural is coming to Kalamazoo.

The artist and design have been chosen for the 3,000 square foot public mural, set to be painted on a large wall facing North Westnedge Avenue at the corner of West Willard Street, on the side of a large industrial building.

Prolific muralist Patrick Hershberger will carry out the work this September, according to a release from Bike Friendly Kalamazoo.

Entitles “Riding the KRVT,” the mural will depict a variety of cyclists and the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail, or KRVT.

The concept, expressing the theme of the joys of bicycling, was chosen by Clark Logic, who owns the building the mural will be painted on.

“The Kalamazoo River Valley Trail is such an important development for our city. It connects our local non-motor traffic to all these incredible adjacent trails across the state of Michigan. My new mural, ‘Riding the KRVT,’ will be located on a bike lane that joins with the path,” said Patrick Hershberger.

436 West Willard Street is a historic industrial property, dating back over a century. Clark Logic acquired the property in 2024, and has focused on restoring and modernizing the site.
