An Auckland school has told parents to keep their kids at home today because too many teachers are sick.

In a notice to parents yesterday, Remuera Intermediate said it no longer had enough teachers for all classes.

“Due to an exceptionally high number of staff absences, we can no longer
ensure adequate cover for all classes tomorrow (Friday).

“We know this is very short notice, but if you are able to supervise your child at home tomorrow, please do so. This will greatly help our remaining team and give our sick staff time to recover.”

Attendance records of children kept home wouldn’t be affected, and students could still use online teaching resources, the school wrote.
