The Post is reporting that the man who died was understood to be rough sleeping.
Goldsmith acknowledged the “upsetting situation” in a statement.
“This will naturally be an extremely upsetting situation for anyone involved, and it would be inappropriate to politicise it, or to comment further. Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased.”
The National Party told the Herald to direct queries to police as “they will be best placed to answer it”.
