A Woolworths shopper has felt like he stepped back in time after visiting an old-school supermarket that’s very rare these days.
Beauie was stunned as he walked through the Woolies in Devon Plaza, Victoria, which had no self-serve checkouts, black and white checkered flooring, and a huge row of short counters for your groceries.
One of the things that really caught his eye was the bakery, which he pointed out was still in its original form.
A shopper has been left stunned after discovering an old Woolworths store that hasn’t been touched for years.

“This is wild,” he said. “This is all OG, you will not find a Woolworths in Melbourne that is like this. How cool.”
Most Woolworths stores will have the same type of aisles, discount tickets, signs, and colours.
But there are a few dotted around the country that haven’t been upgraded in years, and give shoppers a big dose of nostalgia when they walk through the doors.

Self-serve checkouts have been rolled out at more than 98 per cent of Woolies supermarkets since 2008, making this Devon Plaza location a true rarity.
The technology has also be adopted at places like Coles, Aldi, IGA, Bunnings, and Kmart.
Even though they are ubiquitous in the shopping experience these days, it seems some still pine for the old days.
A Woolworths store in Queensland’s Acacia Ridge went viral last year for having the same lack of modern branding and technology.

It’s clear there is a portion of the population who love that interaction with a checkout person.
“Much prefer this compared to modern ones,” a Devon Plaza shopper said online.
“Without self checkouts, you get good customer service,” added another.
The store didn’t feature a lot of the branding a Woolworths store has now.

A poll of more than 3,100 Yahoo Lifestyle readers than just 13 per cent of shoppers preferred to solely use self-serve checkouts, while a whopping 63 per cent didn’t like them.
The remaining 24 per cent preferred a mix of both, depending on what kind of shop they were doing.
Even the meat section featured tiled walls not seen in a modern Woolworths store.

Beauie posted his trip to Devon Plaza to TikTok and many couldn’t believe how old-school it remained.
“That was my local growing up and as kid. Haven’t been there in over 30 years still looks the same,” one joked.
“Feels like a fever dream,” added another.
“I miss the old style stores, they just felt more comforting,” wrote a third.
