Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann Chandigarh: A 45-minute documentary on Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s life journey, Satauj To Sansad, premiered on Discovery Channel India on Sunday, a spokesperson for the AAP govt said.The documentary traces Mann’s early life in Satauj village in Sangrur district, his career as a comedian and entertainer, and his entry into politics, the spokesperson said. It features his mother Harpal Kaur and sister Manpreet Kaur recalling his childhood and upbringing, he said.According to the spokesperson, Mann speaks about growing up in a farming family, studying in govt schools and working in the fields, including spending nights in the fields waiting for electricity to operate irrigation pumps.The documentary links these experiences to priorities of the Mann govt, including efforts to revive Punjab’s canal irrigation system and reduce dependence on groundwater, the spokesperson said. It also features govt initiatives such as the Mukh Mantri Sehat Bima Yojana, free coaching for govt school students preparing for competitive exams, the anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashean Virudh’ and ‘Bhagwant Mann Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’, he said.Actor-producer Binnu Dhillon, singer and former MP Mohammad Sadiq, and singer-actor Karamjit Anmol speak about Mann’s career as a satirist and his use of humour to highlight social and political issues, the spokesperson said.Mann’s wife, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, discusses his personal political journey and work schedule in the documentary, he said.The film was produced by New Delhi-based Small Screen Film and Television and directed by Vishal Chib, according to the spokesperson.The spokesperson said Mann had urged people to watch the documentary in a post on X ahead of its premiere and that, according to the production team, it had been distributed across the Discovery Network in multiple languages.Repeat telecasts are scheduled for Aug 31 on Discovery Channel India at 5 pm, TLC India at 1 pm, Discovery Science at 3 pm and Discovery Turbo at 3 pm, the spokesperson said.
