A new report by Counterpoint shows that Huawei continues to drive China’s smartphone market in Q2 2026. The company once again leads the ranking with significant growth in its shipment share compared to the same quarter last year.

Counterpoint has revised its China phone market quarterly report for the second quarter, where Huawei maintains its position at the top with 23% YoY, up from 20%.

The report says Huawei is dominating China’s smartphone market in Q2 2026 due to its Kirin 5G chips. The return of the company’s in-house mobile SoCs has strengthened its position and value in the consumer market.

Mate 80 series further increased this hype as Huawei announced the flagship with a new Kirin 9030 chip series, which claims to be equivalent to a 5nm processor.

Besides, the 5G Kirin chipsets for the Enjoy series marked a strong comeback for Huawei in the smartphone market. Both Enjoy 90 Pro Max and the Mate 80 are main contributors to the firm’s increasing sales revenue. The report adds:

“Huawei led the market and saw the highest YoY growth, thanks to 5G Kirin chips coming back to the Enjoy series. The Enjoy 90 Pro Max and the Mate 80 were its main sales drivers, while the newly launched mid-end nova 16 series also sold well.”

Apple achieved the second position with 18% YoY sales growth –  thanks to its stable pricing, which helped iPhone 17 models to garner attention over other brands.

Phone makers like OPPO, vivo, and Honor (same order on the ranking) tried to cut down on the rising component cost pressure, but didn’t see any progress in their sales. Instead, these brands are seeing a decline in their year-over-year shipments.

Xiaomi has ranked sixth with a 12% market share. The company has been mainly relying on low-end models. Speaking of the overall market, China’s Q2 2026 smartphone market is seeing a double-digit decline, but sales are down by just 1%.
