The film is directed by Katsuhiko Kitada, with characters designed by Akemi Hayashi.
It’s being produced by Story Inc, while CloverWorks is in charge of the animation.
It will be the first Pokemon movie since Pokemon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle was released in 2020 in Japan.
The announcement is further proof 2027 is going to be a big year for Pokemon, with a new series titled The Misadventures of Sirfetch’d and Pichu set to premiere on Disney+ and DisneyXD.
A clip of the upcoming movie was also shared on the Pokemon Instagram page, alongside the caption: “Get ready for Pokemon: Wild Card, an all-new animated film featuring a Pokemon TCG player and Mimikyu!
“Stay tuned!”
