John Wick’s Scott Adkins’ action-packed trilogy is coming to an explosive end. Arguably, a ton of Adkins’ movies take a similar turn, as he has been a part of many action movies over his decades-long career, including The Expendables 2 (2012), American Assassin (2017), and Ip Man 4: The Finale.
While Adkins’ Killa Harkan ultimately loses his fight against Keanu Reeves in John Wick: Chapter 4, James Nunn’s One Shot places him front-and-center in the action as Navy SEAL Lt. Jake Harris (Adkins). The first film, which came out in 2021, followed Harris attempting to transport a prisoner while fighting off insurgents also interested in the same prisoner. What made One Shot different was that it was edited to look like one long, continuous take. The format was clearly successful, as a sequel, One More Shot, was released three years later, with Harris tasked with delivering a terrorist suspect for questioning. And now, Adkins is back again for the third film, One Last Shot, and the trailer promises no shortage of action.
Given that it is the final film in the series, the stakes are even higher as Harris has the weight of the United States — and potentially the world — on his shoulders as one of his men takes the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff hostage. But that’s not all, as he is also within arm’s reach of nuclear weapons — and he’s not afraid to use them. It’s a personal mission that will test the SEALs’ loyalty; however, they seem determined to end it once and for all.
Harris isn’t alone in this chaotic mission, as he is joined by Dolph Lundgren (Rocky IV), who plays commanding officer Admiral Mulholland. This isn’t the first time Adkins and Lundgren have worked together; the pair both starred in Castle Falls (2021), which the Men of War star also directed. Meanwhile, Hannah Ware (Hitman: Agent 47) and Steven Cree (The Diplomat) also star. If this sounds up your alley, it’s good news, as the movie is available for pre-order ahead of its DVD and digital release on Sept. 22.

If the trailer is anything to go by, One Last Shot is intended to be the definitive end of the series. But then again, so was John Wick: Chapter 4, as the famed assassin’s death in a pistol duel seemingly cemented the franchise’s conclusion. However, what is dead may never die (quite literally, in this case), as plans for John Wick 5were soon revealed. You might be asking yourself how, given Chapter 4’s ending (including Wick’s grave being shown) and director Chad Stahelski’s determination not to retcon his death. But there are a few possibilities for Wick’s survival if a resurrection route is the planned outcome.
