Like a few great singers before her, notably Despina Vandi, Andromache was born in Germany, migrating at the age of ten to Greece.
Her soaring vocal range, charisma and ability to entertain crowds has earnt her plaudits across Europe, leading to her first single release To Feggari/Το φεγγάρι, in 2017. Her most recent full album made its debut in 2022, Ela – The Album, with a new album ready to drop in a few months.
Billy Cotsis interviewed the singer while on holiday in Greece.

What inspired you to become a singer?
Music has always been a part of my life. I grew up surrounded by it, and from a very young age I felt that singing was the way I could truly express myself and connect with people.
How do you find the creative process from the construction of a song to the studio and then promotion?
It’s a beautiful but demanding journey. Every stage has its own magic, from the first idea and the lyrics to the moment you hear the final song in the studio. Then comes sharing it with the world, which is always exciting because you never know how people will connect with it.

Are you planning a follow up to the Ela album?
Yes! We are planning to release a new album in early 2027. It will include some very special songs I have written myself, and songs from other creators that I have been collecting and working on for many years. I’m excited to finally share them.
You studied German philology/linguistics, do you sing in that language too?
I spent some of my childhood in Germany; the German language has always been very familiar to me. That’s actually why I chose to study German philology at university. But when I moved to Athens for my studies, I got my first opportunities to sing professionally. I realised that this was what I truly wanted to do, so I decided to leave everything else behind and pursue music.

Tell us some of the many places you sang during the Greek Summer?
This summer we travelled to more than 30 different cities and places across Greece and Cyprus, and everyone had something unique. One of the most memorable was a beautiful little village outside Sparta, where the stage was set inside a forest, under the trees. We were performing for a wonderful cause, supporting people with special needs, which made the night truly unforgettable.
What message do you have for the people of Australia and your September tour?
I’m so excited to finally meet everyone in Australia! I’m bringing a lot of love, Greek music and positive energy with me, and I hope we can create some beautiful memories together. I can’t wait to see you all in September!
