Audacy will mark a decade of its annual “I’m Listening” mental health initiative with its 10th broadcast special in recognition of National Suicide Prevention Month and World Suicide Prevention Day (Sept. 10), airing on stations between Sept. 8-13.
Since 2017, “I’m Listening” has brought celebrities, recording artists, newsmakers and mental health professionals together to focus on resources and the value of conversation around mental wellness.
The special will again be hosted by NBC “Today” co-host “The Voice” host Carson Daly, and Katie Neal, host of Audacy’s syndicated “Katie and Company.” Among this year’s guests are Kelly Clarkson, Ed Sheeran, Gracie Abrams, Jelly Roll, Keith Urban, Shaboozey, Tate McRae, The Smashing Pumpkins, Janelle Monáe and Shinedown.
Joining them again will be psychologist, scientist, philanthropist and founder of The AAKOMA Project, Dr. Alfiee M. Breland-Noble, and the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Christine Yu Moutier. During the program, the group will discuss mental health related topics such as social media and AI, veterans and first responders, and seasonal depression.
“Through personal stories, expert perspectives and information about available resources, ‘I’m Listening’ continues to create a safe space for audiences to connect, find support and know they are not alone,” Audacy’s news release says.
Audacy also notes that since its launch in 2017, “I’m Listening” has helped broaden the national conversation around mental health while raising more than $2 million in support of national and local organizations. Audacy has also continued its partnership with mental health-related organizations through events such as its annual “We Can Survive” concert.
“Nearly a decade after we first launched ‘I’m Listening,’ the need for honest conversations about mental health has never been more important,” Audacy Senior VP of Programming Dave Richards says. “Every year, we’re reminded of the power of simply creating space for people to listen, share their experiences, and know they’re not alone. We’re proud to bring this important program back to our audiences nationwide and continue using the reach and intimacy of audio to connect people with stories, resources and hope.”
The “I’m Listening” special will live stream on-air across all Audacy stations and on Audacy’s app and website, with local day and time listings on station websites. Listeners will be able to follow the conversation on X and Instagram using the hashtag #ImListeningLIVE.
