The two landmarks will light up every evening from Tuesday 1 to Sunday 6 September as part of “Septembre Mauve”, an initiative led by the Fondation Recherche Alzheimer.
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the challenges faced by people living with Alzheimer’s, support research and provide greater visibility to the needs of affected families and carers.
The initiative forms part of the City of Cannes’ wider support for people affected by the disease through the CCAS and GIP Cannes Seniors Le Club.
Social workers from the Pôle Autonomie provide personalised support to people experiencing Alzheimer’s-related disorders and their carers, while the city also runs initiatives designed to increase public awareness.
Further events are planned later this month to mark World Alzheimer’s Day on 21 September.
The purple illuminations at Cannes Town Hall and Le Suquet will continue each evening until Sunday 6 September.
