That position, though, could be under threat in 2027, with the Warriors having added versatile back Grant Anderson from the Brisbane Broncos, on top of the current pairing of Ali Leiataua and Leka Halasima – a second-rower turned centre – seemingly preferred as first-choice options under Webster.
The coach recently came out and defended the centre after he was subjected to a tirade of online abuse after the Warriors’ 45-26 victory over the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The 28-year-old came on for debutant Luke Laulilii after the latter was forced off by a high shot from Newcastle Knights prop Jacob Saifiti, scoring one try, assisting another and making 54 post-contact metres.
“He looked like he was always ready. Last week, he actually played really well. He carried the ball,” Webster said after the victory over the Newcastle Knights.
“We left him stranded, like, several times last week against Cody Walker throwing stuff at him and [Matthew] Dufty.
“Like that’s their superpower. So if there is criticism, they’re idiots. Like, absolute idiots,” the coach said, addressing the abuse Pompey had received.
The 28-year-old will start on the wing against the Manly Warringah Sea Eagles as his side seek their first NRL minor premiership since 2002.
In his 15 appearances this season, Pompey has scored four tries and kicked 14 goals, averaging 111m per game.
