In the two decades since Terri Irwin lost her “soulmate”, she hasn’t remarried or even gone on a date with someone.
Terri met Steve in 1991, just two days after the Crocodile Hunter took over Queensland Reptile and Fauna Park from his parents.
She has previously said that she hasn’t been interested in jumping back into the dating pool because she already had her “happily-ever after”.

“I’m lonely for Steve, but I’m not lonely,” the mum-of-two told Stellar magazine last year.
“I never mourn being on my own and not being in a relationship.
“I think we need to say that. I think women are still amazing, fulfilled, incredible people – even if you never marry, if you have four kids, or two kids, or no kids.”
She said there are “no rules” about what life should look like.

Another reason she hasn’t dated is that she felt there would never be another man like the one she was married to for 14 years.
“While there are a lot of wonderful men in the world, can you see another Steve Irwin?” she told Us Weekly in 2024.
“I just can’t.
“I’d be like, ‘I love that you’re a librarian and the Dewey Decimal System is cool, but I got to go jump a crocodile and do that’. Forget that.”

How did Terri and Steve meet?
Twenty-five years ago, the American was captivated as she watched Steve perform a crocodile demonstration at the Queensland park.
Steve, who was 29 at the time, said that as soon as he saw the Oregon woman, his heart went “bang, bang, bang, bang”.
“It was love at first sight,” he said in an episode of Crocodile Hunter.

It was a chance encounter, and things almost fell apart when Steve asked if Terri wanted to meet his “girlfriend” after the demonstration.
But when he called out the name “Sui”, a dog came bounding over instead.
Terri and Steve had a whirlwind romance and married the following year in her home state.
Terri has spent the last two decades raising her children and growing Australia Zoo.

Immediately after tying the knot, the pair took off to film a documentary about relocating a problem crocodile in far north Queensland.
That would end up kicking off the series The Crocodile Hunter, and help the Irwins become household names.
The duo welcomed their daughter Bindi in 1998 and their son Robert in 2003.
Steve tragically died nearly 20 years ago to the day in 2006 after being struck by a stingray.
