Lawson initially moved into Hadjar’s seat at the Dutch Grand Prix after the Frenchman injured his wrist during the summer break. The Kiwi finished seventh in the main race after missing out of the points in the sprint race with limited preparation.
He had a forgettable race yesterday in Monza, however. After starting in the pits, he was able to fight his way from last up to 11th before a damaged front wing caused by colliding with Audi’s Nico Hulkenberg ended any chance of a top-10 finish.
Lawson sits ninth on the driver standings with 51 points, 20 points back from Hadjar, and 10 clear of Italian Grand Prix pole sitter Pierre Gasly of Alpine, who eventually finished seventh at Monza.
After Monday morning’s Spanish Grand Prix, there is a two-week break before the next race in Azerbaijan.
