She thanked the Television Academy, before adding: “So incredibly proud of the whole Muppets crew on our Emmy wins.
“A lot of love and happiness and hard work and diva fights went into making this special.”
The Muppet Show won four of the six awards it was nominated for on Sunday – Best Writing for a Variety Special, Best Picture Editing for Variety Programming, Best Production Design for a Variety Special and Best Variety Special.
In winning the latter, Carpenter beat friend Taylor Swift, who had been nominated in the same category for her Disney+ special Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour | The Final Show.
Carpenter’s latest win means she’s also tied with Swift in the race to become an Egot winner.
However, Swift could soon earn the “O” part of the acronym, as she’s considered to be the frontrunner to take home the Best Original Song Oscar for I Knew It, I Knew You from Toy Story 5 at the Oscars on March 14 next year.
