Over the last few years, Jason Statham has firmly cemented his status as one of the undisputed heavyweights of modern action cinema. From the high-octane mayhem of the Fast & Furious franchise to the massive box office success of 2024’s sleeper hit The Beekeeper, the veteran actor has proven time and time again that nobody delivers bone-crunching justice quite like him. This year, Statham doubled down on his signature brand of gritty, isolated action by starring in the remote Scottish wilderness thriller Shelter, and more recently, anchoring the high-seas thrill ride of Mutiny, which trades Die Hard’s Nakatomi Plaza for the claustrophobic corridors of a massive cargo ship. While the explosive maritime feature has only recently wrapped up its theatrical run, a new release is already getting ready to make a splash.

Helmed by acclaimed action director Jean-François Richet – who previously proved his knack for tight, relentless tension with the 2023 Gerard Butler vehicle Plane – Mutiny centers around Cole Reed, a former special forces soldier turned private security detail. When his billionaire tech mogul boss is assassinated in front of him, Reed is framed for the murder and forced onto the run. Seeking refuge and answers, he slips onto a massive cargo ship heading out of Bangkok, only to find the vessel crawling with the very mercenaries who set him up. Co-starring Annabelle Wallis, Adrian Lester, and Roland Møller, the film turns the industrial maze of the ship into a lethal playground, prompting Statham to channel his inner John McClane.

Mutiny officially docked in theaters on Aug. 21, 2026, but an accidental pre-release leak on Prime Video heavily dented its box office momentum. The action-thriller pulled in a modest $7.7 million during its opening weekend, and ultimately capped its global theatrical run at just over $28 million against a reported $40 million production budget. The critical reception was also highly polarized, leaving the film with a split 50% critics’ score but a much more favorable 86% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Leaning into the enthusiasm from the latter camp, Lionsgate swiftly pivoted to the home market, fast-tracking the movie to premium video-on-demand (PVOD) services on Sept. 8, 2026 – just 18 days after the film’s big screen debut.

Lionsgate’s strategy paid off, as Mutiny immediately dominated the streaming charts and secured its legacy as a home-viewing hit. The studio has now taken the next logical step in the film’s home entertainment rollout by announcing a new release that will bring the action directly into living rooms. As reported by Blu-ray.com, Lionsgate Home Entertainment is preparing a 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray of Mutiny, which it plans to release on the market on Nov. 3, 2026 – 74 days after the film first arrived in theaters. Packaged alongside a collectible steelbook edition available exclusively at Amazon, this premium physical release features a 2160p transfer with Dolby Vision High Dynamic Range and a thunderous Dolby Atmos audio track, ensuring that viewers can experience every bone-shattering punch and explosive set piece exactly as intended.
