‘Iconic’ debris-strewn home in Foxton up for sale, listing goes viral

The five-bedroom property has a council valuation of $340,000 but the vendors will consider offers over $229,000.

Property Brokers agent Kate Lemon told the Herald the property has had “an extreme amount of interest” in the past two days since being listed.

“It’s gone viral, like I’ve had that many inquiries. I think just today 15 have come through.

“It is the perfect property for development, depending on council requirements and things. You could put up to three or four houses down there or potentially even more.”

Lemon said the owner, “who was the nicest guy going”, died recently.

“Everyone who is local to Foxton knows the property and would have known the owner.

“Since he’s passed away, the family has actually done unbelievable amounts of work to clear the debris.

“When he was still in the property, the scrap and rubbish was sort of up to the six-foot fence and there was no grass visible. It was literally like a 30cm track to the door.”

The property is set to be sold on October 16 and “will not be sold prior”.

“In the two days that it’s been listed, I’ve got at least three people that have expressed an interest in putting in an offer,” Lemon said.

“It is one that people need to get on to because I absolutely expect it to sell.”
