“He tried to then break the rolling shutters, but because it’s pretty heavy they couldn’t do anything. The other guy also tried to smash and kick it as well.”

The seemingly frustrated offenders then continued to “break the whole glass all over” and “whatever we had outside” before driving away.
“Everybody can see clearly the rolling shutter behind the glass door. So maybe they shouldn’t do that, but I don’t know if they were stupid or what,” Singh said.
Singh said the store remained open today after the debris was cleared this morning, with plywood put up to replace the shattered glass front.
“It’s more hassle for us. Now it’s all covered so we can’t really see outside. It’s hard for the customers to see inside.”
He wasn’t sure how much the damage would cost but expects it to take about a week to repair.
Police said they received a report at 8.40am of an attempted burglary at the business and inquiries are continuing.
Singh said everyone at the store remained “pretty good” but he admitted the incident was “a little bit shocking”.
“We never expect these kind of things,” he said. “We got a really good area around here. We’ve got really nice customers coming in. But yeah, things happen.”
