Peter Marino is among the New Yorkers who will be honored by the New York Landmarks Conservancy at 2026 Living Landmarks Celebration. The event takes place Nov. 4 at The Plaza in New York.
In addition to Marino, this year’s honorees are the Durst Family (Helena Durst and Nan A. Rothschild); James and Peter Gregory; Jane Hartley and Ralph Schlosstein; LL Cool J; Crystal McCrary McGuire, and Raymond J. McGuire.
“We inaugurated the Living Landmarks Celebration in 1994 to recognize the extraordinary New Yorkers who give back so much to the city we love. We’re delighted to honor Peter whose work spans the globe across a broad range of project types and scales, including the House of Dior flagship here in New York and Tiffany’s The Landmark on Fifth Avenue. He also established the Peter Marino Art Foundation in Southampton, showcasing his vast collection,” said Peg Green, president of the New York Landmarks Conservancy.
Marino is the principal of Peter Marino Architect, a 160-person, New York-based architecture practice founded in 1978. The practice is recognized for its award-winning residential, retail, cultural and hotel projects worldwide. Marino is well known for integrating art within architectural design and he has commissioned more than 300 site-specific works of art. Recent and ongoing projects include the House of Dior in Milan and New York; a ground-up building for Dior in Beverly Hills; new buildings for Chanel in Beverly Hills and San Diego, and Tiffany & Co. flagships in Milan, Tokyo, Southern California and The Landmark in New York. The practice is also undertaking a multi-phase renovation of Hotel Cipriani in Venice, the renovation of a live music and performing arts venue in Athens and private residences worldwide.
Marino has received numerous honors for his contributions to architecture, art and cultural preservation. Among his distinguished awards are the Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2012 and an Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres in 2017 by the French Ministry of Culture.
Previous honorees Stephen S. Lash will be master of ceremonies, and Gordon J. Davis, Marina Kellen French, Peter Malkin and Barbara Tober will be honorary cochairs for the evening.
