The onetime estate of Dolly Parton, who passed away in August at age 80 after a brief battle with cancer, has surfaced for sale in the exclusive Bird Streets neighborhood of Los Angeles for the first time in a quarter-century.
The country music icon and her husband, Carl Dean, acquired the third-acre spread perched just above the Sunset Strip in December 1985 for $750,000. They lived there until March 1990, when they sold it for $1.2 million. The property traded hands again before going to its current owner, Eric M. Shore, in 2001 for around $2 million. He totally reimagined the outdated 1970s house in 2009, converting it into the modern mansion now on the market. Edward Tinney of Nourmand & Associates and Kurt Rappaport of Westside Estate Agency hold the $7.95 million listing.

A spacious fireside primary is set against expansive windows offering panoramic city views.

The hillside residence fondly known as the Dolly Parton House features four bedrooms, five full bathrooms, and a powder room in roughly 4,700 square feet across two levels. Elegant yet warm interiors boast a mix of dark wide-plank hardwood and natural stone floors paired with custom built-ins and high ceilings, while vast walls of glass frame jetliner views stretching from Downtown L.A. to the Pacific Ocean.
Tucked away at the end of a cul-de-sac, the creamy stucco structure sits above a two-car garage topped by a frosted glass and wrought iron-railed balcony. A gated entry opens into a courtyard, where a stone pathway leads to the front door. From there, a double-height foyer, fitted with a striking L-shaped staircase, flows to formal living and dining areas opening seamlessly to a wraparound entertaining deck. A family room and breakfast nook connect to a kitchen outfitted with double Miele ovens and an eat-in island.

A geometric pool with with a raised mosaic-tiled spa is nestled into a lushly landscaped hillside backyard.

All the bedrooms are of the en suite variety, with the one on the main level perfectly suited to a home office with its own entrance. The three upstairs include a posh primary suite flaunting a fireplace, a mini-bar, a balcony with a hot tub, a separate office/exercise space, a large walk-in closet, and dual baths spotlighted by a steam shower. Elsewhere is a bookshelf-lined study complete with a surround-sound system.
Stepping outside, a resort-inspired backyard oasis sports a geometric pool and spillover spa bordered by patios and dense trees. The property extends up the hillside behind the pool, featuring a private Zen trail and gardens at its peak.
