Despite a few box office setbacks this year, Jason Statham continues to cement himself as the streaming king when it comes to the world of action. One of the genre icon’s most recent action thriller efforts, which deftly smashes together modern action classics John Wick and Taken with The Stath at its center, is now not only one of his best-received movies, but is now officially one of the biggest streaming hits of all time on
Prime Video.
The Stath Versus Human Traffickers
Reuniting The Stath with The Beekeeper’s David Ayer, and adapting a script written by Statham’s Expendables co-star Sylvester Stallone, the action thriller is based on the 2014 novel “Levon’s Trade” by Chuck Dixon, and finds the Transporter star resurrecting his particular set of skills to rescue a local girl after she’s kidnapped by human traffickers.
Titled A Working Man, the action thriller boasts an all-star cast that includes David Harbour (Stranger Things), Michael Peña (End of Watch), Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), and Arianna Rivas (The Black Phone 2), alongside Statham, who takes the lead as a decorated military man and black ops agent now living a simple life working construction. But when his boss’s daughter, who is like family to him, is taken by human traffickers, his search to bring her home uncovers a world of corruption far greater than he ever could have imagined.
‘A Working Man’ Has Been a Historical Streaming Hit for Prime Video
Unsurprisingly, combining elements of Taken, sprinkling in some John Wick, and adding a hefty dose of Jason Statham to the mix has proven to be hugely popular with audiences on streaming. A Working Man was released on Prime Video back in May 2025, and while Amazon doesn’t release specific viewership figures, the action thriller has consistently held a place in the Prime Video global top 10 ever since. Now one of the platform’s biggest successes of all time, A Working Man currently finds itself at #10 in the charts, with the likes of Masters of the Universe, Project Hail Mary, and The Runner also featured.

A Working Man
And all this success happened despite A Working Man proving to be deeply divisive among critics and audiences upon release. The action outing now holds a green-splattered 46% from critics on the review aggregator site, alongside a “Verified Hot” 87% from audiences on the Popcornmeter, making it one of the actor’s biggest hits with the latter and putting it just behind the likes of The Beekeeper (92%) and The Stath’s Guy Ritchie-helmed outings Wrath of Man (90%), Snatch (93%), and Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels (93%).
Such success begs the inevitable questions surrounding A Working Man 2. Currently, there is no official word of a follow-up, but considering it’s based on a franchise with 12 novels, there is plenty of material to mine from should The Stath find time in his busy schedule that includes another David Ayer project, John Doe, Guy Ritchie’s Viva La Madness, John Wick director David Leitch’s meta action comedy Jason Statham Stole My Bike, and The Beekeeper 2, which is set for release on Jan. 15, 2027.
