Inquiries into the fatal Coromandel house fire that killed a 65-year-old man are ongoing, police say.

Detective Sergeant Mark Leathem said police are continuing to investigate after the man’s body was recovered from a Wharekaho property on Thursday.

A post-mortem examination is set to be carried out early next week.

Emergency services had been called about 2.25am, discovering the deceased at the scene after a second person escaped the blaze.
