“These symptoms can last for two to three days. People with norovirus are usually infectious until three days after symptoms have stopped.”
Healey said some people, including “older, more frail people”, need hospital-level care with the virus.

Earlier this year, 15 people reported norovirus symptoms after visiting buffet restaurant Valentines Manukau in South Auckland on June 12.
In May 2025, oyster farms in north Auckland were forced to close because of norovirus contamination in waterways.
