Dr Thompson, who also serves as RANZCO’s censor-in-chief, overseeing postgraduate ophthalmology education and training standards across New Zealand and Australia, said he was equally enthusiastic about the move. “It is a fantastic, modern clinic environment with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. I am fortunate to be working with a dedicated, talented, professional and fun support team. Hopefully, we won’t all get distracted too often by the view!”
The clinic offers cataract surgery, glaucoma management, medical retina services, oculoplastic procedures, acute eyecare and general ophthalmology, as well as refractive lens exchange and treatment of ACC-related eye conditions and injuries. Drs Botha and Thompson will also be supported by Eye Institute’s wider clinical network, said Dr Mantell. “Our focus is on delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, supported by clear communication and collaborative co-management with referring practitioners… We are committed to providing timely assessments, comprehensive reporting and a responsive referral experience for both patients and practitioners.”
The Hamilton opening brings Eye Institute’s nationwide network to nine clinics, joining its existing locations in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Wellington, Blenheim and Dunedin.
