Meghan Markle has yet to make any public appearances since her move to the UK, but she has by no means been stuck indoors. The Duchess of Sussex has been spotted in Mayfair hotel Claridge’s at a table with global icon Malala Yousafzai.

Meghan, 45, and Malala, 29, were captured in a video posted on social media chatting at a corner table in Claridge’s. T&C understands that the get-together, said to have taken place on Wednesday, was a personal catch-up between friends.

The pair previously worked together on a discussion on girls accessing education in 2020 in honor of International Day of the Girl. “Meghan and I are on the same page: we both believe that when girls have access to education, everyone wins. Thank you so much to The Duke and Duchess of Sussex for sitting down with me to have an important conversation about the future of our world,” Malala posted about the discussion on social media.

Malala has lived in the UK since 2012 when she was brought to hospital in Birmingham for treatment after being shot in the head by the Taliban in Pakistan. She was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014 and continues to live in Birmingham. There is no suggestion that she and Meghan will work together since Meghan’s move to the UK. Indeed, it is unclear what kind of public profile Meghan wants to now have in her husband’s home country and what kind of charity work she wants to do.

Meghan and Harry have settled in the Cotswolds and have previously been pictured holding hands walking to a country pub. Harry hit the ground running with several public appearances on their arrival. He has described the return as “eventful” and said it’s good to be back on British soil.
