The driver of a vehicle that plunged down a bank on Moke Lake Rd near Queenstown this morning has suffered moderate injuries.
A police spokesman said emergency services were alerted to the incident about 10.20am after the vehicle left the road and went about 40 metres down a bank between Corsican Dr and Alpine Retreat Rd.
The driver was retrieved from the vehicle with assistance from Queenstown’s Alpine Cliff Rescue team and taken to Lakes District Hospital, the spokesman said.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said two fire crews from Queenstown, a rope rescue team from Arrowtown and a rescue helicopter also attended the incident.
Moke Lake Rd, which is on the Glenorchy side of Queenstown, was closed during the rescue.
