With over two decades of physically demanding work in the building industry under his belt, roofer Tommy Alsop thought he was in decent shape.
It was only when a health issue arose and he became frustrated with the level of holistic care provided that he decided to take matters into his own hands. Realising that he had no idea what was really going on inside his own body – and that his caregivers had never looked beyond his specific injury – Tommy, now 41, began scrutinising every aspect of his health and lifestyle.
For three years, the father-of-two meticulously tracked his metrics with blood tests and physical assessments, encompassing body composition, VO₂ max, recovery, as well as diet, stress and sleep.
‘The first thing I did was get a full blood panel, which I’d never had done – in all the specialist visits and both surgeries,’ Alsop told Daily Mail. ‘That alone told me more than any appointment I’d sat through.’
He became obsessed with what the data showed him, and how making adjustments to his lifestyle could translate to real results. ‘The difference was that I was measuring instead of hoping, and my plans adapted as the numbers did.’
Struggling with knee problems for years, Alsop said that after implementing a holistic health protocol, ‘I went from not being able to walk on sand to deadlifting and squatting pretty much within a month.’ Today, he says he is in the best shape of his life, having transformed his body from the inside out.
Now Alsop, from the Northern Beaches, is on a mission to transform the health and wellbeing of other everyday Aussies too, helping them to optimise their health with his business, Peak Health.
Tommy Alsop, 41, is bringing health optimisation to the everyman. After becoming obsessed with health data during his own recovery process, Alsop transformed his health over three years by measuring his bloodwork, body composition and hormonal health.
The clinic offers personalised health management programs based on the client’s bloodwork. The process includes an in-depth blood test, optional physical diagnostic assessments, and then a customised plan prepared by a qualified practitioner.
‘The approach is simple. Start with the data. Understand what’s actually happening inside your body. Then build a clear, personalised plan around the things that move the needle,’ the Peak Health website states.
Longevity medicine is often thought of as the domain of tech bros and billionaires, not a Sydney tradie. But having witnessed firsthand how a culture of working through discomfort and a ‘she’ll be right’ attitude is commonplace on worksites, alongside physically demanding work, Alsop built Peak Health for ‘the people who service the ute every ten thousand kilometres and go twenty years without a blood panel.’
‘Every tradie is running through harsh conditions daily in an industry where they either believe going to the doctors is weak, or they just don’t believe they have time,’ said Alsop. ‘So the push and push continues.’
While they were the inspiration, Peak Health isn’t just for tradespeople. It is designed for anyone looking to improve their health with a program based on real data about their body.
Whether you’ve had niggling aches and pains you’ve been ignoring for far too long, find that your fitness is plateauing as you hit middle age, or are already in good shape but hoping to optimise your training based on science rather than fitness fads, understanding what is happening beneath the surface could be the game changer you’ve been waiting for.

‘The promise is not a longer life. It is carrying your grandkid up a flight of stairs at 70, and knowing where you stand while there is still time to change it,’ Peak Health states, with the goal of helping clients to perform, feel and function better at every age.
The process begins with an advanced pathology panel, where one blood draw analyses 90+ markers, going beyond that of a routine check.
Clients receive an easy-to-understand written summary of their health status, and where clinical review is required, cases are referred to an AHPRA-registered doctor or nurse practitioner operating under formal clinical governance.
The telehealth clinic offers personalised health management programs based on the client’s bloodwork. Following assessment, a plan is prepared that is entirely unique to the client, based on their personal data
There are optional in-person, physical diagnostic assessments including DEXA scans and Clinical-grade VO₂ max tests available too through partner sites in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane
There are optional in-person, physical diagnostic assessments available too through partner sites in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane: The DEXA scan measures bone density, muscle mass and visceral fat, flagging fracture risk, and overall strength.
The 90-minute longevity session assesses cardiovascular fitness, strength and balance, including a Clinical-grade VO₂ max test evaluating cardiorespiratory fitness, heart-lung coordination, and endurance capacity, and force plate testing to highlight strength gaps and track injury recovery.

Following assessment, a plan is prepared that is entirely unique to the client, based on their personal data. The plan can include nutrition, training, sleep, recovery and supplementation (where required) programs customised by a qualified Australian clinician.
The consultations take place via video call, around the client’s schedule – meaning there’s no need to take a day off work to make it to an appointment. The model was designed this way with intention, ‘so a tradie in Dubbo gets the same clinic as one in Dee Why.’
‘Requiring a man to take a day off work is the single biggest reason this workforce never gets tested,’ Peak Health states.
The Peak Health app tracks the patient’s markers and progress over time, and can connect to wearable fitness trackers to monitor results in real time.
Scheduled check-ins with the same practitioner and repeat pathology to assess progress mean adjustments can be made to the program based on data as needed.
