There are two names on everyone’s lips right now thanks to the ‘Fourth Wing’ casting news, and one of them is Esther McGregor.
The 24-year-old actress has been firmly making a name for herself as one of Hollywood’s brightest rising stars. McGregor is also no stranger to the bright lights of fame—she’s the daughter of acclaimed actor Ewan McGregor who will absolutely know from films such as Moulin Rouge, Trainspotting and Star Wars.
The father-daughter duo have even shared the screen together in Disney’s Obi-Wan Kenobi miniseries and the 2023 film, Bleeding Love.
All eyes will now be on Esther’s next project, with Deadline revealing the actress has been cast in the TV adaptation of ‘Fourth Wing’ as the series’ heroine, Violet Sorrengail, opposite Emilio Sakraya as Xaden Riorson.
The series, from author Rebecca Yarros, is being produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society and is easily one of the most anticipated series of this decade.
Speaking exclusively to marie claire Australia ahead of her stint in Prime Video’s We Were Liars series, where she starred as Mirren, McGregor touched on the pressures of bringing a beloved book to the screen.
“There’s definitely a baseline, additional pressure, but also kind of a security blanket too because it’s a great way to help your performance and a great place to pull from,” she told us.
