ForbesNYT Connections Hints Today: Monday, October 6 Clues And Answers (#848)By Kris Holt
Hey there, Connectors! I hope your week is off to a great start.
I’ve come to realize I need more balance in my life. I work a lot and I’m not taking care of myself as well as I should. While that’s far from ideal, understanding it is an important step toward bettering myself.
I’m taking some overdue steps in a positive direction. Balance in all things. That’s a goal worth striving for, I think.
On a related note, I’m not putting together a Connections Answers Explained column today. Apologies for any inconvenience.
Today’s NYT Connections hints and answers for Tuesday, October 7 are coming right up.
NYT Connections Hints – How To Play
Connections is a free New York Times daily word game that you can play on the NYT’s website or Games app. If you have an NYT All Access or Games subscription, you can access the Connections archive, which includes every previous game.
Connections presents you with a grid of 16 words (sometimes phrases, symbols or numbers). The aim is to arrange them into four groups of four. You don’t know how they hit together or what the category for each group is: that’s what you have to figure out.
There’s only one correct solution and there are often red herrings. You can guess incorrectly three times. A fourth wrong guess, and it’s game over.
Each group is color coded. The yellow group is usually the easiest to deduce, followed by blue, green and purple. Often, the yellow and green groups have synonyms, the blues have cultural references and the purples have some kind of wordplay involved. But this is not a hard and fast rule. Be ready for curveballs – part of the fun of Connections is in how the NYT shakes things up to keep you on your toes.
As with Wordle and similar games, it’s easy to share results with your friends using an emoji-based grid. The game tracks your progress too.
Many players take pride in having long win streaks or getting a reverse rainbow – correctly guessing the purple, blue, green and yellow groups in that order with no mistakes. That adds an extra little challenge.

Spoiler alert! Don’t scroll any further down the page until you’re ready to find out today’s Connections answers.
This is your last chance to look away.
This is your final warning!
Today’s Connections answers are…
🟨 Yellow group — gossip (BUZZ, DIRT, DISH, TALK)🟩 Green group — seen at a wedding (ALTAR, BOUQUET, CAKE, RING)🟦 Blue group — team (BUNCH, CREW, GROUP, PACK)🟪 Purple group — musicals plus starting letter (BRENT, CHAIR, FANNIE, SCATS)
I went flying out of the traps thanks to BOUQUET, which helped me get the greens in no time flat. BUZZ and TALK were my entry points into the yellows (straightforward synonyms, even if they might be colloquial).
On the smaller grid, the blues were really easy to spot since they were just synonyms. I’m glad for that, because I would have had no chance with the purples. I got those very much by default.
They refer to Rent (BRENT), Hair (CHAIR), Annie (FANNIE) and Cats (CATS). It’s pretty funny that we’ve hat two references to Cats in the space of a few days, after the song “Memory” appeared in Friday’s game. recent games of Connections might have felt like a hard knock life for those who don’t know much about musicals.
I don’t think anything here was too complicated, broadly speaking, so I don’t feel guilty about skipping the Answers Explained column today.
I locked in for win 221 in a row. Here’s my grid for today:

P.S. Only one song came to mind after playing today’s game. “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” is most famously sung by the legendary Marvin Gaye. His take is my favorite, though I do really like the Gladys Knight and the Pips and Creedence Clearwater Revival versions. What a fab song:
Have a great day! Stay hydrated! Be kind to yourself and each other! Call someone you love!
