Researchers say they’ve developed a new AI foundation model trained on more than 40 million facial photographs that can help predict mortality risk in patients with cancer.

The technology is based on work from scientists at Mass General Brigham in Boston, which had earlier created a system called FaceAge that is designed to estimate a person’s biological age — indicative of physiological condition rather than chronological age — from a facial photograph.
