The Princess of Wales is counting down the hours until her children are back under one roof, telling royal fans she “can’t wait” to have Prince George home from boarding school.
Catherine reportedly made the comment to fans this week during a series of royal engagements in Norfolk, just one day before schools in the UK closed for a two-week break.
The Princess was visiting the children’s hospice The Treehouse in Ipswich, part of the East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, as well as an onsite cafe and charity shop that provide funding, when she made the comments.
The Mirror quoted Denise Ashton, 68, who was in the cafe with two friends when the Princess came over for a chat.
“She said she’s looking forward to George coming home — she’s missed him,” she said, adding the Princess also told them the family might be “going somewhere” for the break.
The outlet also reported Catherine told other royal fans she was looking forward to having all three of her children at home.
The Princess was chatting to locals gathered outside the charity shop when she said her children start their holidays the next day.
“My children break up tomorrow and I can’t wait to have them all home,” she said.
The half-term break will mark the first time George, 13, has returned home for an extended period since he started at Eton in September.
Since then, he has only been allowed to return home briefly on two occasions; once for one night and one other time for the weekend.
The royal family announced in June that George would be following in the footsteps of his father, William, and uncle, Harry, and attending the prestigious boarding school.
The announcement came after months of speculation about what school he would attend.
Eton was long considered a front runner, not just because William had enjoyed his time there, but due to its close proximity to the family’s home in Windsor.
Prior to starting at Eton, Prince George had attended Lambrook School in Windsor since 2022.
William, disclosed to listeners of Heart Breakfast radio show in May that George had begun boarding at his prep school, perhaps in readiness for starting at Eton, while giving a shout-out to his three children.
“Charlotte and Louis, because George was boarding last night, Charlotte and Louis if you’re listening, make sure you’re on time please, make sure you’re not fighting over who listens to what this morning,” he said.
