A crash on the Auckland Harbour Bridge closed two city-bound lanes.
A person stuck in the traffic described the congestion as an “absolute cluster”.
Another person trying to get on to the bridge said “very, very heavy” traffic was backed up along Jervois Rd.
Photos of the bridge show traffic backed up behind the crash as police tended to the scene.
The front of one of the vehicles involved was caved in.
‘Severe wind gusts’ add to delays
NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) warned that “severe wind gusts” would affect travel on the bridge between 3pm and 7pm today.
“Reduced speed limits will be in place, and lane reductions are possible throughout the afternoon at short notice.”
High-sided vehicles and motorcyclists were urged to consider delaying their journeys or detouring via SH18/SH16.
“Drive with caution and allow extra time for long delays,” NZTA said.
