The Group 1 Might And Power was billed as a match race between Treasurethe Moment and Buckaroo.

Someone forgot to the Blake Shinn-ridden Globe which upstaged his two far more fancied rivals in the four-horse 2000m contest.

An upset in the Might And Power as Blake Shinn produces a frontrunning masterclass in the small field!

In an absorbing race, James McDonald put Buckaroo into the race before the turn to make it a true staying test with Treasurethe Moment holding her ground in the middle.

But it was all seven-year-old Globe in the drive to the line which went around at $9.50.

Treasurethe Moment stuck on for second while Buckaroo ran third.

This is what the riders thought of their mount’s performance in the Might And Power Stakes.

1st – GLOBE (Blake Shinn) I knew it had to be right to beat Treasurethe Moment, and obviously, Buckaroo got the utmost respect for them, and realistically, he’s not a proven weight-for-age horse until today. So, we were going in a bit of the underdog, but as we’ve seen time and time again in these small fields, it’s quite tactical, and an upset can happen more often than not. We went in there with no pressure as the obvious leader, and look, I knew potentially the other riders were going to be more worried about themselves, and Globe’s a natural front runner, and what a thrill to be able to pull it off.

2nd – TREASURETHE MOMENT (Damian Lane) She travelled comfortably throughout, I thought I had the race won at the 600, I just had to bide my time and go when it was right, and then upon straightening I was beaten. She really laboured late, which was really unlike her. Normally when she travels that strong she really quickens, so first thoughts are disappointing without dissecting the race, going through the sectionals and everything like that, but I would expect at her best she’d go past Globe.

3rd – BUCKAROO (James McDonald) I was happy with him, I thought he was just a tad below his best because he was there to win and he just grinded it out, a bit one-paced.

4th – HEZASHOCKA (Jamie Melham) Ground was just way too firm for him.
