Stephen Colbert on Monday did something highly unusual.
“The Late Show” host gave President Donald Trump credit for helping broker the ceasefire in Gaza. “OK, it’s important,” said Colbert. “Credit where credit is due. Donald Trump did something good.”
Then, turning offstage, he joked, “Are we still canceled? You sure? I tried. I tried.”
CBS announced this summer that it was nixing Colbert’s show. It will end in May 2026. The network claimed the axing was down to “purely financial” reasons. But it came as parent company Paramount Global sought approval from the Trump administration for its now-granted merger with Skydance Media.
