The Titans have their new head coach in Josh Hannay, but a clause in his contract means he may not be in the job for long and that Craig Bellamy could yet end up at the Gold Coast.

That is according to a report from AAP on Tuesday night, which claims the Titans have inserted a clause into Hannay’s contract which would see him demoted to assistant if the Gold Coast is able to sign the Storm supercoach.
Hannay signed a three-year deal as Des Hasler’s replacement in August but AAP reported that the Bellamy clause was brought up with Hannay when he was negotiating his contract and that the 45-year-old accepted it.

According to AAP, the Titans have spoken to Bellamy about the prospect of joining the club as head coach in 2027, while several other off-field roles are on offer should he be interested.
“We are very excited to have Josh Hannay joining us as our head coach from 2026,” Titans CEO Steve Mitchell told the publication.
“All employee contractual arrangements remain strictly confidential, and as such, we will not be making public comment.
“We acknowledge Craig’s exceptional coaching credentials and reputation within the game and like many NRL clubs, would welcome him and his family in any capacity.”
Bellamy and his wife have property in the area, having bought an apartment at Coolangatta in the Rockpool Rainbow Bay complex, while they also have two investments in the precinct according to realestate.com.au.
Bellamy’s daughter and her family also live in the area.
