Check out the big bets that hit, and the ones that missed, on a massive day of racing around the country.

HITS

Caulfield – Race 4 No.2 – Tentyris – $25,000 @ $2.50 (BetR)

Caulfield – Race 4 No. 2 – Tentyris – $10,000 @ $2.60 (Neds)

There were no doubt some anxious moments at the 200m mark when the Godolphin galloper had a leader to reel in and clear room to find. Mark Zahra found the gaps and from there, his mount did the rest.

Caulfield – Race 8 No. 2 – Private Eye – $5000 @ $2.60 (Pointsbet)

A big day for trainer Joe Pride and Private Eye was the highlight of that in Melbourne with a soft win in the Moonga Stakes.

What a warrior he is 💪

A perfect ride from Jamie Kah in the Caulfield Cup to get the favourite home. He was met with heavy support in the 10 minutes leading up to the feature and it paid off with Half Yours getting the money.

HALF YOURS AND JAMIE MELHAM – IT’S HISTORY AT CAULFIELD 🏆

The favourite swamps them late to win a remarkable Caulfield Cup! The McEvoy father and son combo have done it as Jamie Melham becomes the first woman to ride the winner of the 2400M Classic 💪 pic.twitter.com/e56lVA3dW5

Randwick – Race 5 No.11 – Clear Thinking – $10,000 @ $3.80 (Ladbrokes)

She was slightly held up after getting put in a tricky position early but the gaps opened for her at the 250m mark and her class rose to the top. A promising mare that has now won five from seven.

CLEAR THINKING wins #TheKosciuszko!

It’s a third win in the $2m country feature at Randwick for @G1TySchil and it was a gun ride on the @Paulmessara & @LGavranich mare as she bursts through to beat Gallant Star and Chidiac. @tabcomaupic.twitter.com/ch8j9yxBqX

Randwick – Race 7 No.7 – Ka Ying Rising – $8000 @ $2 (Ladbrokes)

The bookies took him on late as he started $2+ around the traps but they got it wrong with the Hong Kong champion making the field in the richest race on turf look like a handful of Benchmark 72 horses.

EPIC! 🤯🤯🤯

Randwick – Race 8 No.1 – Linebacker – $11,000 @ $3.10 (BetR)

Won the most talked about trial in history and it translated to raceday. From a wide barrier he was caught wide and worked throughout but the G1 winner showed his class and belted them in the Silver Eagle.

Linebacker bolts in the Silver Eagle!

MISSES

Caulfield – Race 7 No. 1 – Apocalyptic – $11,000 @ $2.10 (Neds)

Caulfield – Race 7 No.1 – Apocalyptic – $9263 @ $1.95 (Ladbrokes)

Caulfield – Race 7 No. 1 – Apocalyptic – $6000 @ $2.05 (TABTouch)

Led them up and travelled sweetly leading into the home turn and looked to be going better than the eventual winner, Ole Dancer. But that horse stuck on and was able to get up in a tough battle down the straight.

OLE DANCER IN AN EPIC 🤯

Ole Dancer and Apocalyptic put on a show as Blake Shinn and Mark Zahra go at it all the way in the Thousand Guineas, what a race 👏 pic.twitter.com/0oRuYC1DLe

Randwick – Race 3 No.5 – Swiftfalcon – $20,000 @ $3.10 (BetR)

It feels like we say the same thing about this horse every week. Got back, ran on, didn’t win. Thought he was home at the 100m mark before Vivy Air kicked and held on.

Vivy Air breaks a two year drought and is into The Big Dance!

So close yet so far for Swiftfalcon 😩@Brown_ethan8@cmaherracingpic.twitter.com/RtC6YHSo7m

Randwick – Race 6 No.15 – Generosity – $20,000 @ $3 (Ladbrokes)

Randwick – Race 6 No.15 – Generosity – $10,000 @ $2.80 (Ladbrokes)

The former West Australian was met with heavy support in the Sydney Stakes but the bookies kept the lot. Settled a long way back in the run and never looked like getting there.

Randwick – Race 9 No.10 – Fangirl – $20,000 @ $4.60 (BetR)

She had been brought undone by these high pressure races in the past and that’s what seemed to happen in the King Charles III Stakes. Didn’t have that same electric finishing burst we’re used to and finished outside the placings.
