Director Renny Harlin’s The Strangers: Chapter 2 was released onto Digital outlets at home last week, the second part in a new trilogy of tales centered on Maya (Madelaine Petsch) and her struggle to survive a waking nightmare at the hands of the masked strangers.
Petsch is back as Maya in the upcoming third and final installment of the new reboot trilogy, which Renny Harlin has already completed filming. It’s without a release date at this time, but the first teaser for The Strangers: Chapter 3 was tacked onto the ending of Chapter 2.
Chapter 2‘s post-credits scene gives us our first look at the upcoming third installment, which has now made its way online. You can check out the Chapter 3 teaser footage down below.
A battle-damaged Madelaine Petsch makes her last stand in this first look at The Strangers: Chapter 3, which gives us an interesting glimpse of Maya wearing the Pin-Up Girl mask. But you’ll notice that her hands are literally tied in that brief snippet of footage, suggesting that the killers are perhaps forcing her to take part in their sadistic home invasion ritual.
No word on whether or not Chapter 3 will be getting a theatrical release. The second chapter made just $17.9 million in theaters earlier this year, which makes us wonder if Lionsgate is going to go a different direction with the already shot third installment. Stay tuned for more.
The entire trilogy was filmed simultaneously over the course of 52 days in Slovakia.
In The Strangers: Chapter 2, “The Strangers are back – more brutal and relentless than ever. When they learn that one of their victims, Maya (Madelaine Petsch), is still alive, they return to finish what they’ve started. With nowhere to run and no one to trust, Maya must survive another horrific chapter of terror as The Strangers – driven by a senseless, unceasing purpose – pursue her, more than willing to kill anyone who stands in their way.”
