A woman has shared the five reasons she is leaving the UK, from the cost of living to ‘expensive’ travel from London to Europe.Â
Lindsay, who goes by @linzblog on social media, has lived in Australia, Ireland and Canada.
The travel content creator spent three years living in in the UK and has now decided it’s time to leave.
In a recent TikTok video, she explained the financial reasoning behind her decision.Â
Lindsay said: ‘It is so expensive here, as soon as you walk outside your door you spend £20. I literally just tap my card wherever I go.
‘I don’t even look at my bank account because you’re just so used to stuff being expensive, unless you’re a finance bro or a lawyer or director, I don’t know how anyone ever gets ahead working two jobs you get taxed so much it’s hard to financially get ahead.’
Aside from money, the dreary UK weather has become a problem for Lindsay, too.Â
Though it is currently autumn, the Kiwi feels like she’s ‘in the depths of winter right now’.

Lindsay elaborated: ‘Gloomy weather really gets to me, not seeing the sun really is hard for my mood.’Â Â Â
She went on to describe how she experiences a ‘blanket of anxiety’ whilst living in London over job security and finances.Â
Lindsay revealed she never feels ‘settled’ in the capital and stressed the need to have savings kept aside for emergencies.Â
The cost of travel between London and Europe was another issue for the content creator, who feels it’s expensive.
‘It’s not really cheap to travel Europe from London,’ she said.Â
Lindsay explained how she would pay £350 for flights on bank holidays and ‘prices would triple’.
But she also felt mid-week travel was expensive, too, and could come to around £150.Â
‘£40 for a luggage there, £40 for a luggage back, it’s not as cheap as you think it is,’ she added.

Lindsay’s fifth reason for leaving the country was she felt she had ‘no work life balance’.
The content creator feels she works ‘three times as hard’ as she did in Australia and still gets ‘the same sort of benefit and reward’.
‘You go so above and beyond and work so hard in your job,’ Lindsay continued.
‘And you could still be losing your job next week.’
