Ooops! Donald Trump has ruined this one for Tom Hanks.
An initiative to honor the Hollywood legend has been foiled by a last-minute decision by the president to overhaul the establishment.
Tom Hanks had previously described Donald Trump’s second shot at the American presidency as a dent in the victorious journey of the country, which began centuries ago.

The president’s order to revert the Department of Defense to the Department of War forced a West Point alum group to cancel an honorary event set up for Hanks. On Friday, the politician noted that the renaming was necessary to position America as a serious-minded country, away from woke politics.
The event, billed for September 25, was set up to honor Hanks for being an active advocate for veterans. He would have bagged the Sylvanus Thayer Award.
Per The Daily Mail, the award was organized by the West Point Association of Graduates to celebrate non-alumni who live according to the military academy’s motto of “Duty, Honor, Country.”
According to the words of a Retired Army Colonel. Mark Beiger, in an email, said the decision to ditch their tribute to Hanks was to allow the economy to reorganize and refocus.

The order was signed on Friday alongside the War Secretary, Pete Hegseth, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General. Dan Caine.
Trump declared that all the steps taken, including the name change, were part of his plans to win wars. “We should have won every war. We could have won every war. But we really chose to be very politically correct or woke, and we just fight forever,” he explained.
He emphasized that the country could win more wars by making slight adjustments and actually fighting to win. The War Department title originated when President Harry Truman coined the name after the Second World War, combining the Navy, Air Force, and War Departments.
“And you know we had it.’ And we won World War I, we won World War II, we won everything before, and as I said, we won everything in between,” Trump stressed.
How Hanks Left MAGA Fans Upset

Earlier in the year, the TV star faced online backlash from Trump supporters after his skit at the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live.”
As reported by The Blast, Hank played the character of a racist MAGA supporter in the “Black Jeopardy” skit, which featured Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, Eddie Murphy, and Hanks.
In the skit, he reprised his character, Doug, who wore a MAGA hat and an American Eagle shirt. Doug leaned into the racist side of the narrative when he refused to exchange a handshake with Darnell Hayes, played by Kenan Thompson.
However, some Trump supporters, including Victoria Jackson and an aide to Robert F. Kennedy Jr., described the skit as annoying. Link Lauren. Lauren stressed that Trump won the election via a popular vote, and the show must abandon the “MAGA is racist trope” for good.
It is not surprising that Hanks and MAGA supporters have no love lost between them. In June 2024, the Hollywood legend shared his thoughts on Trump’s potential second term in the White House, expressing his displeasure.
Hanks told CNN’s Christiane Amanpour that the win could mean America’s “journey to a more perfect union has missteps in it.”

Last year, The Blast noted that the actor protested against the use of an A.I. image that looked like him by companies to promote their business and services.Â
He further expanded on the discourse, noting that agencies, firms, and guilds were working behind the scenes to curb the indiscriminate use of actors’ likenesses and intellectual property by brands.
Hanks explained that, if done correctly, obtaining the necessary permission to use an entertainer’s image is a great way to preserve and immortalize their legacy, even after they’re gone. In his words:
“What is a bona fide possibility right now, if I wanted to, I could get together and pitch a series of seven movies that would star me in them in which I would be 32 years old from now until kingdom come.”

Thieves broke into the comedian’s estate in Pacific Palisades while he and his wife, Rita Wilson, were away from the property. The burglars reportedly broke through the window to get into the house, but their plan was foiled when they could not gain entrance into their primary residence.
While the robbers were unsuccessful on their mission, inside sources explained that it was not a case of targeting the actor. Instead, he happened to be another name on the list of those who have suffered a home invasion in the Los Angeles area in recent times.
The couple bought the property, previously owned by Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, for $26 million nearly two decades ago. It houses a spacious 14,513 square feet, three stories, four bedrooms, and five bathrooms.
